• ABS INOP.....

SOOO...I took my car to my mechanic today to get my Taylor 8mm wires installed as well as change my Manual transmission fluid and clutch fluid. I drive about a mile after picking up my car... the ****ing ABS INOP light comes on. My car can never go for any length of time without needing ****ing maintenence. Anyway, the brake fluid level is perfect and this light NEVER EVER came on before I took my car in to get the work done. I also came home and unhooked my negative battery cable for an hour then hooked it back up. Light stay off for a mile then came on. SHIAT

I called up the mech and explained and of course he's like " I did't touch any abs stuff etc etc so I'm like well I'm bringing the car in tommmorow morning and he said ok we'll scan it. I also did a search on this ABS INOP **** and have seen it can be casued by numberous things. However, since I think it's so obviously related to the work I just had done, what would it most likely be you guys think? Also, my brakes feel the same as they did when the abs inop light wasn't on. No difference. Thanks.

Check your collision light. The ABS light turns on when that bulb is out.

im willing to bet that your 3rd brake light bulbs are out, go to your local parts store and spend 1.99 on 2 bulbs and put them in and it will take care of the light.

well I may have fixed it! I did a search on here again and a guy had a connection between a spark plug wire and a foil wrapped group of sensor wires leading to the bundle of wires on the passenger side. So I look in there and a spark plug wire is resting RIGHT on top of that foil wrapped group of wires. So I spaced em out as well as trying to space out any other wires touching having to do with the alternator and sensor wires and went out and pounded on the old lady (car) for about 15 minutes with no ABS INOP... ... Tommorow morning I'll fire up the ***** again and see if she's cranky or not (ABS INOP LIGHT OR NOT) ;-P

A loose or dirty body ground (the one by the battery) can also cause this, for future reference. Had me "baffled" for quite some time, not that long ago. But, Hey...it was a good "opportunity" for me to change my rear brakes out anyway. ;)

Collision Light?
What is this and where is it?
Just that I've had the ABS INOP light on for ages and have been trying to work out why.

Collision light = 3rd brake light = the brake light on your spoiler.

Oh that one. OK, so that rules out the Collision light then, as those bulbs are fine.
