If I get a new inst. cluster with a 150 mph speedometer, will I need to update the computer or something? Or can I put that right in and go. Thanks!

if its its made for a 98 - 02 camaro you can put it in..but your speedometer will be off..i used a "yellow box" from www.blackrobotics.com ..it just splices into your speedometer wire and you set it to the correct ratio change in the gauge face..however..if you use this your cruise control will no longer work..to me it was well worth it..i have the 155mph indiglo flame gauge face (check it out on my site)..looks SICK at night [img]smile.gif[/img]

Oh really? I dont want to loose my cruise control. What a drag. I can't do ANYTHING to this car without screwing something else up. Well, I guess I have to sell it then. I am so pizzed. I miss my old car. :(

How can the cruse control work on the ones they came with? Is that a 199 dollar GM part that, let me guess, does NOT work with a v6? GM engineers suck.

because the yollow box is an aftermarket part.. it interupts and changes the signal from the speed sensor..when you do this it causes the cruise control to fail

Are you serious? I used to plug and drive on my old camaro 2.8 v6, when I put a 120 and full instrument cluster in it. (Changed oil sender, that's it). So basically it wont read that right either. Any way to fix this stuff and keep my cruise control? If you can fool the computer with all of these gizmos out there for everything else why not this? How can I keep my cruise with this, besides not putting it in, and is there a way to fix the tach? I can't be the only one alive that wants this, and a cruise too.

I've never heard of the speedo being off by replacing the instrument panel, but there's a box you can buy to fix the tach. A quick search here and in Appearance will find it. I know there's other people that have done it.

I put a 93-97 150mph cluster in my 96 without any problems at all. Everything works fine.

I had a 95 Z28 Cluster in my 94 3.4 and it was plug and play. Except the tach was always WAY off. The only reason I replaced it was because the V6 cluster was fubar, wish I had got another V6 cluster anyway...that thing struggled to do 110...like I'd ever get close to 150 anyway. ;)

No, they probably just engineer things that while not interchangeable, are more cost effective in the long run, and I'm sure they *don't* produce parts with "swaps" in mind...especially not things like instrument clusters and speedometers.

What's wrong with having a 125 mph speedometer anyway, as opposed to a 155mph? It's not like you're gonna go any faster [img]graemlins/twak.gif[/img]

Heh, I kinda wish I could swap a 125mph speedo into my V8...that way I could peg the speedometer in 15 seconds and the speedometer would move faster than the tach [img]graemlins/burnout.gif[/img]

i've been at 135 :D ..but that was going slightly downhill on the highway..othwise you speed limiter will cut you off..if you have one ;)
