• Windshield Wipers Snapped...

Apparently my car wasn't biult for the snow... first snowday this year in GA and POP they went!! I just bought them too!! The 24" Rain X ones. I had trouble installing everying single 24" blade... they would all miss a spot near the bottom or simply would not install... I'm posting to ask is there special blades our 97 Camaro's need? if not, then whats the problem?

Yea man, what part of Atlanta do u live in? I live over here in Powder Springs and my car was covered in snow. Saturday i didnt have the balls to go to work but on sunday it was a b**** to get all the ice outta my car. As I was drivin' ice was comin' off my car and hittin' my windshield. It was crazy. How much did those 24" Rain X wipers costs? I need new ones.

I live around the Conyers area, thats over on the east side about 20 miles away from I-285... My blades costed me like $8.00 a piece... you can find them cheaper definately, however their quality and whether or not they'll fit and stay on... I'm not sure. I would recommend you verify a GM dealer that you don't need special blades just incase you do because mines have a huge skip space...

The 97s require those reverse blades... The Anco 24-Rs that say "Made for late model Camaro/Firebird" are what you're looking for.

Dan is correct. I JUST replaced mine. Look my blades up in the book at the store and it said 24R.... but they didn't have any R's or S's or anything. Just the plain lengthes. So I bought them. HUGE missed spot on the bottom of windshield. Went online to checker auto, punch in my car and bam... there they are, 24R. Like $15 each!?!!?!!!

Only Anco makes them?

2001 firebird:
similar wiper issues:
Help appreciated:
The wiper blades that were on car when I bought it are BOSCH. I replace the wipers with refills. driver side is fine. Passenger side refil falls off (on the end section) Yes, I now have metal on glass scrape that I polish off with toothpaste. I put refil back on...keeps falling off the end. I buy new wiper blade assembly...Bosch...for passenger side... 18 bucks. Now the new passenger side wiper arm skips real hard about center of windshield on its return swing. DADADADADA....wipe....DADADADDA...wipe. embarrasing, annoying, stupid.
both the first blade refill and the new blade assembly were from the selection computer at parts store for 2001 firebird.
I did not see a rain X brand. they also only (that particular store) had BOSCH replacement blades and were out of ANY brand refills for this car. I had to get something that did not fall off because I had a long way to drive and it was of course raining.
I know how to put refills on, trust me on that. They were teflon brand...the drivers side refil is awesome. I think it is a manufacture quality issue on the first refill as it (the little metal spines) and the rubber wiper postion do not seem to be the right length to fit in wiper blade.
Anyway...just hoping for more feedback like maybe a recommendation for brand of blade/refill that works...does not fall apart...does not skip, etc.
Thanks, G

I got the RainX brand wipers and they skipped a little when I put them on. I just polished the windshield up with some Rainx protectant and works fine now. No skips or vibrations. Hell with the Rainx protectant you don't even need them wipers on. water just beads up and flys off as your driving. (so cool to watch )

Have you guys tried cleaning the windshields? Clean it with Stoner's or some rubbing alcohol, then apply some sealant or wax. That is usually the cause of the chatter.

me just been cleaning windshield with soap and water along with rest of car...like every other car have owned. thanks for the rainx tip and the rubbing alcohol. maybe i will try my car polish ...raceglaze on windshield.
get the alcohol off before it gets into the rubber blades, though.
I plan on trying to find another 'teflon' blade refill for passenger. embarrasing.
