No traffic school? $55 is nothing. You could try to contest it, but then due to your prior, the judge could turn it to reckless driving (if he's on a bad day). $55 isn't enough to get a lawyer involved, so that's outta the question. If you do go to court, try talking to the officer who issued you the ticket, and see what he can do.

NEVER plead guilty to a traffic violation..ALWAYS show up..sometimes the cop isnt there..which means you get off..most times they are..but if they are they are willing to make a deal with you 90% of the time..he could not turn it into reckless driving becaues he cannot just increase the charge after he already wrote it down..only decrease it if he feels like it..not to mention he would have to prove it and the circumstances are nowhere NEAR reckless driving from what you have explained..thats my advice/experience

You could go to court, and plea no contest, and if the judge is on a good day, he'll just make you pay the fine and you won't get the points on there. But one point is nothing... I have four on my lisense ;) So... if you've got the time, you can take it to court, but plea no contest and you should be alright.... otherwise, pay the fine and take teh point, or take traffic school if you can.

Pay the $55 and be done.

Just pay it and forget it. It's not worth the time fighting.
