• Those Replacing MAF sensor

I have a question for those that known MAF sensors. I am finding a wide margin of prices between different replacement MAF sensors out there.

Is there a difference between different brands of sensors?

Is there a reason to spend twice the money to buy one brand over another?

Is there any known brands that I should steer clear of?

Thanks for the input.

Can you post the other listed MAF sensor brands? I have only known of one brand from GM, and it's expensive as hell!

Theres:

"CARDONE"
"AC DELCO"
"Python Injection"
"Niehoff Injection"

Of course the "AC Delco" is by far more expensive than the rest.

Upgrade to a Granatelli or SLP one.

How?

I may be missing something, but Granatelli and SLP sell MAF's for LT1 and LS1 ... not L36.

Isn't Cardone generally remanufactured OEM stuff? (i.e. not brand new, but rebuilt)

Yeah they are.... Still about 130 or so for a rebuilt cardone. Thats what I am getting at. I have never bought a "rebuilt" sensor before.

I am all for saving money ---- on a budget just like everyone else. But sometimes you get what you pay for and thats what I am NOT trying to do. Save 40 or 50 bucks and then have the thing shoot craps 3 months later.

That sells it for me....... Thanks

I hardly ever consider buying straight from GM. I usually find better deals with ROCK AUTO.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm going with the GM direct part. The original OEM lasted nearly 10 years if i get half as many again I'll be happy.

FWIW, they don't seem to have that part number in their database. They've got the one for Autos, but not the one for M5s.

If you buy it from GM you'll pay $235. Maybe try calling GM Parts Direct and see if they've got it in their computers.

Well ... looks like trying to make an informed decision was a waste of time....

Last night on my way home from work my car was stumbling so bad that I could barely drive her. Could not get above 1800 rpm without the car dying, sputtering etc...

Limped to Autozone and had to take what they had in stock to get home.

It's a CARDONE brand so its a reman. MAF with a whopping 3 month warranty. I'll prob. wont get more than a year out of it. Thanks for the info everyone.
