when a friend of mine is driving her fire bird the trip will read 389 mi. but it will say that she has a full tank and then all of the sudden it will drop. she knows how many miles she is getting but she would like the guage to work. Could anyone give me some guidance on the topic

maybe the moving arm thing on the fuel pump is getting stuck up with gasoline or grime or something. and damn, 400 miles to a tank? does she drive around at 1000 RPMs? i get 150-175 miles to a tank... :(

even if you got 200 miles, that would only be 12.5 miles to a gallon. get that fixed...your probably getting like 10 .
and yes original topic starter, you need a fuel sending unit. i just got mine installed month or so ago. had the same problem
