    does anyone know how to connect the voltmeter leads to the rear defroster in order to check it out?

    Turn the key on and the drforster switc on. put the red lead on the hot feed wire ( drivers side) and place the black lead on the ground feed wire (pass side) you should read voltage. next take a peice of alum foil and wrap i around the red lead tip and press that against the middle of the eliment bar. put the black lead in the pass side ground wire feed. if you have 6 volts then that one is fine. If you have more 10 the elimnet is broken between the midpoint and the ground side. if you have 0 then it's broken bwteeen the mid point and the hit side.

      I HAVE 2 CONNECTIONS ON THE PASS. SIDE AND ONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. ITS A 2000 OLDS, ALERO. HOW WOULD YOU CHECK WHERE THERES 2 CONNECTIONS.

        just unplug them both. Put your black lead to a good ground on the chassis or run a wire from the battery to connect to your black lead. Then probe both connections with the red lead and see which one shows battery voltage. thats your hot one.
