  • Horrible Gas Mileage

Im getting very bad mileage, I wont have a number for a few more days but its bad, the needle moves over a 10mile trip to school. My exhaust smells rich. Not all the time but some times. Anyone have any ideas?

    Oxygen sensor?
    Underinflated Tires?

When was the last time you had a tuneup?

What kind of car? Engine? Miles?

    Give details....

my car got 7-8 MPG for about a tank after my fuel pump install. i thought i had done something wrong but it was just the computer adapting to the new pump.

Your Check Engine Light should be on... You have
an O2 sensor malfunction for sure. Take it to Autozone and hook up an OBDII diagnostics machine.
          Its free!

Run a bottle of Fuel System/Injector Cleaner..Check the Tire Pressure,it should be around 30-35 PSI.

How bad is your mileage? Maybe your Gas Gauge is just iffy?

Im at 3/4 of a tank now, I reset the ODO when I filled it and ill top it off next time and divide the ODO by the gallons I put in it. but from what I have heard the 3/4 mark is really 1/2 and im at 100miles.

Dont pay attention to the gas gauge...Do what you said about dividing the gallons and figuering out the MPG.

will do. What is the average for a v6 Camaro? I do have 3.73s and I drive maybe 12 miles to school then back home then the same distance to work with maybe 3-5 stop lights/signs in the way. Maybe my gears are killing me?

Gears would be a factor but you shouldent be getting 10mpg..Thats like lamborghini mileage.

I should add to this, My idle can sometimes get rougher and I sometimes get a really nauseous gas smell in or from the exhaust of the car.
