hey there all well i didnt know wether to put this here or on the general tech board. but here is my problem. i start my car and then about 10 seconds later i start smelling the smell of warm antifreeze, as if its coming out of the engine. i have loooked while the egine is running and i have found no leaks , no smell of antifreeze in or around the engine bay. i cant figure out where it is coming from. Please help!!!!!!!!! i have really bad luck when it comes to engine coolant system. just changed out the water pmp about 6 months ago. if anyone can heko please let me know.

this is pretty general so Im' gonna move it to general tech

could be the heater core thing inside the dash. Most likely you have a coolant leak inside the engine though that you are smelling from the interior. I've had that happen.

there may be a tiny pinhole leak in your heater core, making the coolant spray out ever-so-lightly and causing the smell inside of your car. Also, you may want to check the heater hoses to see if they are leaking.

I'm going with heater core on this one. Check the floorboard where a passenger would put his/her feet and see if it's wet. If it is, I've got bad news.

ok well i felt the floorboard on the passenger side and it wasnt yet but it felt like some kind of oil down there. it wasnt antifreeze, at least it didnt feel like anitfreeze or smell like it. so any other suggestions? if it was the heater coil wouldnt it have antifreeze coming out of it? would there be puddle or just a wet spot. cuzz in the past three days all that there is is just some few streaks of liquid.

I'm gonna have to agrre with need4speed on this one, sounds a lot like the heater core. As for it being a puddle or a wet spot, I'd say that prolly depnds on the leak. A friend of mine just had her heater core go out in her Grand Am, and you could pracitcally swim in the puddle on the floorboard. But I've also seen them go out and cause just a slight leak. Sounds to me like you've got just a small leak in yours.

If you want to save money, steer clear from the dealership!! I saw a few heater cores on ebay, or you can try autozone.

gmpartsdirect.com does have them, that's where I ordered mine from 6 months ago. About half the price the dealer wanted.
