I situated my cooling problems before summer started. I put a tranny cooler in, 180 degree thermostat accompanied by a manual fan switch. My car hasn't went a hair over 180 for most of the summer. Yesterday it started going over 210 and it wasn't that hot out. It usually doesn't heat up sitting in traffic like that, it certainley didn't do it before. Everything looks to be in good shape. Maybee it's the Idle Air Control? Just a thought

Car overheating? IAC Maybee?

Well it really couldnt be the IAC, cuz lets say it were acting up and making your car idle fast, first off, you would notice, im not sure if you did or not, second as the engine speed picks up, so does the water pump speed, just taping on the gas as your car's temp is rising can move enough colant when sitting still to bring the temps back down. I would look other places, such as checking colant level, look for leaks if its low. There is always the possiblilty that it is the guage just reading wrong, if you have access to auto tap, try that and see what readings you get. My car regularly goes above 210 when sitting still but as soon as I move it comes back down. Did you turn your fans on to see if they brought the temp back down?Jared W.
