The dis-4 has a few more programable options than the 6a? I have a dis-4 and it works great. Check out the msd website for full details of both

If I remember right... 6a doesn't work on our cars
DIS-4 = distributorless ignition
6a works with a distributor

Not to be an ***, but could someone explain to me how the 3.4 ignition is so much worse than a 3800's? We have the same coil packs do we not? At least the aftermarket packs work for both motors.

Is it the way the motor even fires (I thought was more efficient anyway)? How can the 3.4's ignition suck that bad...I've heard the DIS4 works great for the 3800 as well, yet I've also heard it does nothing for some people. If I went N20 or boost, I'd definitely get it, but for bolt ons, i would not go into MSD yet. I run cheapo wires and stock coil packs, my car runs great.

</font>
I don't know the technical differences, but the 3.8 has a waste spark system or some **** like that, meaning it has more than enough spark that needed. I think you can gap your plugs at .60 and be ok even. I duno whats different... but the 3.8 is just better. the DIS-4 is definately a good buy for the 3.4L though

</font>
there both a waste spark system, but the 3.8 spark could be stronger because of its ignition module(part #'s DR145 3.4 dr158 3.8 at autozone)
so if anyone could get a 3.8 module cheep and try it on the 3.4,we could see if it works better
