• Is it hard (or possible) to change plug wire without a jack?

I want to save money and change my wires myself but I think I would have to jack it up to be able to do that. Is it possible to change them without jacking it up?

You shouldnt have to jack the car up. On most cars you are able to open this thing called a hood and change em out(practice on legos). A dependable jack will always come in handy though. You might have to change your air filter or valve stems in the future.

Do you even own a Camaro?

With stock manifolds, It would be very difficult - if it's even possible.

I did it just fine in my car... though I have tubular manifolds.

You can get a hydraulic jack for $25 at walmart, mine doesn't leak and I have had it for 3.5 years.

Can't afford that and you can get one at a junkyard for like $2

Thanks (except to mr. 3.4), I had a mechanic who was going to hook me up and do it for $30 if I bought the wires (The upside to delivering parts) but he is now in Iraq. I'll talk to people tomorrow and see who will do it cheap.

              Thanks.

its not impossible if you jack it up... but on the ground, its a no-can-do with those lincoln log manifolds.

I only asked and one place today, he wanted $130.. I know I can get a better deal...Just have to find it.

I have that nice studder/almost backfiring in the first cylinder when its been sitting over night and its wet outside.

I did mine all from the bottom (99 with cast manifolds) and it was a challenge. Took me 3.5 hours altogether doing one wire at a time and trying to get those wire clips apart/together. A $25 jack will save you a lot more than $130 when you use it for other things in the future. I would try it yourself, but be prepared for tearing your hands up a little.

I found someone who will do it for $30 (I buy the wires). Gotta love delivering auto parts.

I did mine in about an hour and a half on my 99. I don't think it's as hard as some say. Now that I have headers I can do it with my eyes closed

If I read it right you are talkin about plug wires...I did mine in about 20 mins and I didnt see any reason to jack up the car....I even changed the plugs the same time too
