It stops metal. Realy good for a new engine, where you have parts rubbing and sheading a lot of metal bits. It will keep metal frags off the oil filter keeping pressure up over the miles.
If it is cheap and you engine still has tons of miles left on it then it would be worth it.

I like those filter cutters, if they wern't like $70 I would all ready have one.

well an oil filters single purpose is to filter out debry. what ive heard is the magnets only take the metal and gathers it against the wall or in a corner of the filter. but there is always skeptisim in the market, so it's always good to try things for yourself

I thought everyone stuck a magnet on the lower end of their oil filters. Don't you?
You can also put a magnet on/by the oil pan drain plug. remove just before draining oil.

If you have a dead tv or computer monitor lying around...great magnets in there. (dead electric motors, etc... as well.)

you can also find super magnets on ebay, etc.

You could get some neodium(or some thing like) magnets.
They are so strong that they could crush fingers or splinter wood and they will shatter if you let them smack together.
I want to toss one of those neodium mags in the bottem of the oil pan of my new engine by the pick up.
You would have to try and find those on ebay if you wanted them.
