losing power steering and not accelerating just means your car turned off..... not that those certain things werent working. if that happens again while driving, doesnt matter if u have auto or manual. Put it in Neutral and start it back up again while ur going and it should work. If you find the problem be sure and post... sounds interesting

I threw a belt at the end of the 1/4 on my last pass ... check gauges light came on, voltmeter dropped immediately to red at 12V, and the water temp climbed FAST FAST FAST. Focker was over the midpoint (160 thermo and fan switch keep it barely reading normally) by the time I made the 1/4 return trip. Got back, coolant was coming out of the overflow ... twas hot!
Let it cool down, put the belt back on, drove home no prob. I'm gonna flush and fill before I drive again, but it survived the 1.5 hr trip home no prob. Who knows ... FWIW I run a summit overflow tank / catch can.

I just ran into something very similar. Basically I was fine while driving for a while, but when I came to a stop the car would just die. No codes, no warning, just gone. After letting it sit for 30seconds - 2 minutes it would start right back up. One time it started and sounded very lumpy. Take off the camshaft sensor and have it checked, if it turns out good, then the issue could be the Crankshaft sensor. After a while it got to the point that the car would just die while driving down the road. When you take your car in, see if they can scan it with a Tech1 or equivalent tool.
This might explain it better:

never happened to me but i had a friend that the same thing happened to him...
it was because water got in the electrical stuff..
if this happens everytime it rains then get it checked out... but it never happened to him again, but it was raining really hard and he hit a puddle or something....
cars natural reaction to lots of water...

My sisters 95 Firebird was that way. When it rained and we were driving it in town where it flooded it would stutter and lose power and about die. It only happened when it was wet.1999 Silverado- Bagged, colormatched and rollin on stock chrome 16\'s<br />Make love not war, hell do both, get married

You have to remember our plugs are pretty much on the underside of the engine and that only means trouble if you hit a large puddle. I would recomend that you get better wires and upgrade your coil. It doesn't take much for the crappy gm wires to fail.
