Are you using your o2 sensors without a cat converter? If you have a sensor after the cat in the original, with no cat in place now then that could be your problem. Messing with egr can really change the way your engine run in a bad way too. If both of these sensors are messed up or not working properly then that explains your problem, your computer needs them to function properly.

The 1995 3.4L V6 only has 2 oxygen sensors...one on each manifold. If they haven't been changed recently, it wouldn't be a bad idea to do so. They are $21.99 at Autozone and are rather simple to change. You should also definitely get your plugs changed. From there, you COULD have a faulty coil, but it's not certain.

o2 sensors are giving decent readings,
        wires are brand new
plugs have almost a mile on them they are so new
        catalactic converter is punched out
        air filter is new
        feul filter is new
        map sensor is new

i wonder...how much vacuum pressure should you be getting out of the map sensor hose. maybe i could figure it out if that sensor is getting bad readings and trying to make up for it by sending the computer into a limp mode...just an idea

Go somewhere like Autozone, have codes scanned for free and write down all of them, then look them up yourself. While you're there you could get coils tested.

i have never seen an autozone in WA would shucks do it there?

            could shucks test the coils???

if a coil was bad could it still be giving some spark?

the code is 34 and it has to do with the map sensor getting high voltage and low pressure.

when you unplug the sensor it says low voltage high pressure. i blocked off the egr valve and that helped a little bit, but it wasnt until i inpluged the passenger side o2 sensor that it ran and idled ok.

when the car would idle it would be at about 850 rpms and would idle for about 30 seconds then ddrop to like 450 and start running crappy then idle regular for another 30 then run crappy and eventually die.

when i unpluged the o2 sensor it ran better when i put it in gear and had the ac on it would still idle good.

If it was o2 sensors why would the MAP sensor be throwing a code and BTW the Map sensor is brand new. thanks in advance

My 3.4 firebird is also running very rich but the thing is when I took it to school to check it out with the snap-on scanner it read that my car was running in 80F temp. So I am going to replace that 1st. When I get more info I keep you all updated. So right now my car is running in open-loop mode so I am gonna try my best to get it back to normal since my car is misfiring.

Well you have to ask yourself why your map sensor would be out of spec for the computer to throw the code. On a 3.4 the the only thing downstream of the map sensor is the air filter and some hoses. Check to make sure that those hoses are connected, and that the air filter is not dirty. But besides that the only other thing is that I know the O2's control alot of things with how your car manages fuel. So I would just replace them, especially if it is over 100k. Good luck. ;)

Have you pulled your plugs and seen if they're fouled, oil or fuel-soaked?

i just changed them before the guy took his car

i havent checked them since but the old ones looked like a dark brownish color and didnt seem like they would make good spark.

plugs arent the prob anymore its the map sensor getting high voltage and low pressure...what would cause that
