I know I've had a bad EGR for the past couple months, but it will come on then turn off after a few trips.
I just got my car back from the dealer (replaced some seals and the exhaust manifold), and now the SES is on solid after 7+ trips...
Maybe the SES was just dying before and is now dead? Would a bad EGR keep the SES lit and not turn off?

It has been my experience that when the EGR was failing (getting plugged), the SES light would go off and on. As it got worse, it would stay on 24/7. My mechanic "blew it out" and it went bakf to off and on for just a little while but it now is on all the time (94 Buick LeSabre 3.8)
