• Chip for a 3.4

I did a little homework and found two major chip producers. Can you tell me the difference between a "jetchip" and a "superchip". I KNOW the financial difference is about $200. But I mean the difference in performance or other ways other than price. Are they comparable?

I wouldn't even think of using Nitrous on this little girl. But am going to concentrate on making her breathe better (K&N System and exhaust - maybe intake someday - need $$$$, is all!!!)
Thank You

Thanks, guys.

i had a jet chip did'n't really notice any good gains with it i had stage 2 maybe i only needed stage one not sure the best thing you can do if you are planning mild mods are intake and exhaust as for mild mods the cold air intake was my best mod

i don't know about Jet. i have the ADS SuperChip module. it took about 0.3 sec off my 1/4 mile. i haven't installed the 160* t-stat it came with. i'm considering installing it now. or maybe sell it and install the 180*. my last 511-mile drive to Ohio @ an average of 75 mph got me 30 mpg. i'd say it works for me. :D

Here's where I found the information. I don't know if this is the one you are looking for but the price is real reasonable.

Onixv6: How do you install the ads superchip? Do you plug it in under the dash, or do you have to remove the actual chip from the computer and replace it? How long have you had yours? Have you had any troubles with it?

On the ADS website it mentions nothing about the speed limiter, Onyx, does it remove that as well? (like the other chips available do)

There is alway the other option of using a Fast chip. http://www.fastchip.com/

They only charge $300 for a 3.4L chip. They'll send you a reprogrammed PCM for a core chare, then you send your old PCM to them and you are refunded the core charge. They have gains similar to Superchips.

edit: BTW it WILL remove the speed limiter on our cars!!!!!

it hooks up between the PCM and the PCM harness. there's also a wire (or 2) that needs to be spliced. i've had it for about 8 - 9 months, now. the only problem i had was when i installed TPS-TEC. i think it was not compatible with the ADS. i got SES and ran 16.9's at the track. pulled the TPS-TEC and i'm back to 16.3's. otherwise, no problem at all.

i haven't tried testing the speed limiter but i'm pretty sure it does not remove the speed limiter. i doubt the others do, too. the only way i know to remove the speed limiter is to reprogram the actual PCM.

Just to let you know there is no "chip" for a 95. They stopped the removable EPROMs("chips")in 93 as of 94 and up the PCM has to be flashed(reprogramed). The only way around that is a add in module like the Jet that plugs into the PCM wiring harness Basically it piggy backs the stock programming and usually only effects WOT, (Wide Open Throttle) so you would get no change in normal driving from it. Also I wouldn't expect more than 5-10hp (10 is on the generous side) from either the reprogramming or the add in module on a stock engine.

I've had it for quite sometime and only gain I found was that it kept the fan on longer and more often. I didn't gauge a performance gain on a dyno which should be done.

All my mods are coming out so if your interested in the ADS I'll sell you mine for half of what it costs new.
