  • new engine is running hot

Well I got my car back with the new engine and it is running very hot IMO. It stays right in the middle of the gauge and sometimes a line or two above close to the red. My old engine was always 2 lines above 100. I flushed everything and it still runs hot. Any ideas?

Before I put the 160* thermo in, my car always ran right at 210* (the middle line of the temp gauge). Now I run at 185-190*(again, based on the gauge). I never had any problems when running at the 210*, but I wanted to try the lower temp thermo. There seems to be a lot of variation between cars. I don't know if its the engines themselves running differently, or maybe more likely that there is a large variation in the gauge calibration.

You may have an air bubble in the coolant system. It may work itself out or you may need to "work" it out.
