  • Low RPM HP and torque

I've replaced my muffler with a better flowing one. Now, I have lost a little on the low end. I assume this is par for the course. I would like to get a little back. So what would help... Underdrive pulleys? Jet Chip (more for the auto than power)?

lose low end, gain mid-high end is my understanding. for instance i drove a 98 mustang gt and it had low end torque about the same as a 2000 v6 mustang because of the dual exhaust.

intake stuff will get you more low end back. I've got the same problem, but I hope to gain some of my low-end back by putting my FTRA on tomorrow and getting a bigger throttle body.

Or you could skip the low end entirely with a converter. That's where the power is anyway.

I assume you mean a torque converter. I don't know much about those. How does it work and more importantly what is it going to cost? Is this a do-it-yourself install or do you need a tranny guy to do it?

I believe my flows are the 80 series. And I definitely lost some of the zip off the line.

Clean up any turbulence in the intake air stream..I had lost some bottom end when I put the WS6 tailpipes on my muffler. Later, I cut out the little step inside my PVC piece, sanded it down smooth, and rounded the leading edge of the opening, and I picked up a noticeable amount of bottom end. I don't know if it's because of the MAF sensor, or just the way the air flows through into the intake manifold, but any turbulence in the intake air seems to kill the torque.
