Decided to flush and refill the cooling system on Saturday. Got a late start and didn't get much accomplished. Started again on Sunday and got a couple of gallons of tap water (followed by a gallon of distilled water) pushed through the system. There was very little Dex-Cool left in the system at this time (mostly tap water). However, I got sidetracked with other things and didn't finish until tonight (Tuesday).
I didn't drive the car during this period. But I'm wondering if the 2+ days of sitting with almost plain water in the block, heater core, and radiator could have caused rusting. I'm pretty sure the radiator is aluminum ... so no problems there. But what about the heater core and water jackets in the block/heads? Let me know what you think.
