  • Difference between Corvette LS1 and LS6?

    Topic says it all.
Does the normal vette have the LS1, and the Z06 motor is the LS6?
    I dunno.

The regular Vette has the LS1,but I "THINK" they got the LS6 block as well. The Z06 comes with the LS6.I know that some 2002 LS1 F-bodies got the LS6 block. Also, there isn't a LOT of differnce. You can get more gains by going aftermarket.

the c-5 is just an LS1 no LS6 block or anything just the vette LS1 is "unleashed" free flowing exhaust as well as intake...im sure a few other goodies that im not aware of....but, ya ;)

        03 all blocks are Z06.

        but the normal vette gets a LS1, the Z06 gets a LS6

all 2001+ get the LS6 manifolds.

No,some 2002 F-bodies got lucky enough to have the LS6 block. There was a big to-do about it on LS1.com.I figured the Vettes would be the same, guess not....

The LS-6 intake has raised runners for better flow. The blocks are different as the LS-1 has a flat bottom and the LS-6 has a concave bottom. These are the differences in the engines.

Would this explain why some 01 f-bodies have such high dynos while others are quite low in comparison?

not really, the blocks just support the power, the top end makes the power.

the oiling difference might make up 1 hp between the 2 motors. Production tollerance, and learned timing values make up more difference than the block difference.

the ls6 block is nice, but not a big deal.
