  • Fuel Guage

Yea well the title pretty much explains it, my fuel guage is f-ing up. I can sit in park an watch the guage go from normal then slowly make it's way to full, not it's not reading correctly at all, I have 230 miles on my tank and it's still on full, it will jump to the right level every now and again, but it just stays on full, or 3/4 a tank most the time. Any one else have/had or know a solution to this issue?

Sounds like the fuel sending unit. It is located in the tank on the fuel pump assembly. It sends the signal to the gauge. I believe that it's inexpensive, but kind of a pain to change. If you decide to do it yourself, you should look into the easy access fuel door route to save you some time and energy.

get under the car. look forward above the rear and you will see a junction where all the electrical wires are. unhook the connector that contains the pruple wire. Turn the Key to on (just before start) the gas gauge should now read empty. Now take a wire and hook it to ground (NOT HOT) and stick it on the spot where the purple wire goes (DO NOT TOUCH ANY OTHER WIRES) and go read the gauge. should read all the way full. you just checked the gauge. If readings are as explianed the sending unit is probably bad.
