• 20mpg after tune up. new o2 sensors?

I did a spark plug change, oil, and fuel filter change, but my mileage is still at 20. Would new 02 sensors increase the mileage. I have 30000 miles and 1996 3.8

    30k on your 96?

is that 20mpg city or highway? for city, that's damn good. i'm getting about 17-18 city in my 96.

if it's highway, i'd hate to see what you're getting in the city.

It'll only help your mileage if yours are going bad. Scheduled maintenance should be to change them at or around 30K miles anyway, so if you're in doubt, I'd go ahead and change them.

if you would like to go ahead. But only get AC delco 02's or your just taking a step back. But I recomend replacment every 50K or with every tune up. They should be considered a tune up part. not a replace it when they fail part like most people do. So your one step ahead of the game if you do it now.

Actually, most people agree that Bosch are on the same playing field with the Delco's from GM. Most LS1 guys replace their dead stockers with Bosch for what it's worth.

The first time that you get a bosch sensor that you have to cut and splice a harnnes to get them to work you will feel the same about them. I know people who have replaced thiers with bosch (and I have done it on customers cars) and they die within a week. I went through 3 on a caviler... finaly ordered a deleco for 15 bucks more and I have yet to see that cavi again. Some parts are fine not OEM... but some should not be replaced with anything other, and that would include computer control sensors..

Uhm, I am running Bosch on mine....They are OE fit, no cutting and splicing if you get the right art number. I can assure you, they are made for our cars, I sell them every day.

I know. but not all are as such. Maybe some day you will see what I do and have several of them come back just days after with the same problem. If you troll around some other sites you will see it alot.. infact I saw it again just today on another site. went through 2 in 3 days and then got AC Delco and has been fine since. We sell everything from Delco and motorcraft to standerd/tru tech, to the bottom of the line worst parts around. And trust me. there is a large difference. I have never had a problem with AC Delco's. I installed 2 standered motor products IAC motors on a 98 F150, then a motor craft and finaly an AC Delco and it took a delco to finaly solve the problem. You get what you pay for. in some instences I will only sugest Delco. you can actualy find them pretty cheep if you know where to look.

If I troll around???? I have worked for a speed shop that sponsors EVERY major F-body website around for over a year. If it happens to an F-body, I've experienced it. And now I work for a parts store, and have 50+ commercial customers that buy from me, and they aso highly recommend Bosch. They are about the same price as Delco too, so that "You get what you pay for" line goes out thwe window.

Delco is a great brand, don't get me wrong. But I've seen ALOT of theo O2 sensors bad out of the box too. I for one, try not to support the evil empire that is GM parts departments.
