  • Headlight Problem

Maybe I put it on the wrong forum....
As most of us know, the headlights on the Firebirds have never been perfect. As is the case with my third 1998 Firebird. The drivers side motor keeps spinning and grinding every time the headlight closes. This occurs for about 6 seconds, and then stops. Someone suggested it was a relay problem that doesn't tell the motor when to stop. Is there anything I can do about this or do i have to take it to the Stealership to get it fixed? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Yep, the nylon gear gets worn down. The motor doesn't have a spot that it turn off, the circuit just cuts power when it senses an increase in load. All you have to do is flip the gear around. I also once saw someone who made brass gears for it, but don't know where (or who) sells them.
