gas leak?????????

guys when i filll my car up after a little while i am turning down roads and i start smelling gas. Where could the leak be i dont smell it all the time. where do i need to look and how do i get to the tank cause i dont see it. please help

the gas tank is above the muffler and above the muffler shield
