  • Reduced Engine Power light on for the 3rd time

This is the third time i've had my reduced engine power light come on and it's driving me nuts, with my gas pedal all the way to the floor I only achieve 25mph. The first time I was told my cat was clogged and air wasn't flowing through so I spent 1400.00 on that. Next I was told my spark plug wires were shot, so I had them replaced. I'm running out of options and money. Any advice would be greatly appericated. Thanks.

Cat was clogged and it cost $1,400??? Dude, please tell me you did not pay that much to have your cat replaced. :( Go to Auto Zone and see if you have any codes showing up. Who are you taking your car to anyways?? I would ask you how much you paid to have your spark plug wires replaced, but I'm afraid to know. $1,400 for a clogged cat replace!!!

Also, are you hearing any knocking, metal rubbing metal, or any strange noise from your engine?

What year car? On the 99+ cars, with the Electronic Throttle Control, the Reduced Engine Power light is going to be because of a problem with the ETC. The ETC uses three channels, if the PCM picks up a major disparity in two of the channels, it will throw that code and light, and limits engine power. So, there's either a problem with the sensors at the gas pedal, or in the throttle control module.
