jebus! i just went down and checked out the camaro a little closer. i THOUGHT it was a good deal, but it's not. it had a thing in the window with make, mode, vin, etc. and one of those things said "comments" and they wrote "5961" there. i assumed that was the price. i got my '96 firebird for a little more than that so i figured it would be. turns out they just forgot to put the last digit on--it was the milage. and they were asking for $9500. i got my '96 firebird with the same amount of miles for $6,148! rip off dealers. yeah, i'd low ball them and keep working at it. but it's not the dealership's car. they're selling it for somebody. the guy brought it in and told them how much he wanted for it. and the dealership gets a certain percent. so i'd have to work the guy down on it but the dealership told me the lowest he'd take is 9k.1996 Pontiac Firebird
Black, 3.8L A4

its just me but I just never liked the way convertible camaros lookes. Even when they were frist made back in 67 all the way up 02 when it got cut. It just never looked good to me so I never was a big fan of them. Now t-tops on the other had are awsome. Wish I could have them on my camaro I have right now but oh well, can't have everything.

Convertible:
heavier
higher insurance
easier to steal stuff
top maintanence
wind noise
flip over wreck = bad
Convertibes are nice, but I would go for a targa of some sort...I enjoy the stiffer frames and rollover ability. They are also cheaper to maintain. If you have the money and drive real safely, convertible might not be too bad.2005 Ford Focus ZX3 SE D20 M5 - Modified ;) http://www.knightenmotorsports.com
[ U R L = h t t p : / / w w w . g e o c i t i e s . c o m / h e a r t l a n d _ h e a t _ v 6 ] Heartland Heat V6 [ / U R L ]

yeah, i wanted t-tops VERY bad. but f-bodies are extremely rare around here. there are three f-bodies for sale in my town and the town next to us and we're both pretty good sized towns. and the only one of those three that has t-tops was a 2002 camaro with 20k miles on it. yeah, that's a little out of my price range.1996 Pontiac Firebird
Black, 3.8L A4

Yea Ttops are the way to go, I love mine too. Where in Michigan do you live? I live near Grand Rapids and the west michigan area and see all kinds of Fbodies.

I never was a fan of convertables... they just seem wierd with the top up...
but I do love them with tthe top down, so a great second car
as for downfalls...
-not as tight a chassis(barely noticable unless you really look into racing, and even then its not that big of a problem)
ex. http://memimage.cardomain.com/member...05_59_full.jpg
He is one of the top contenders locally in autocrossing.
-next is the added weight they have a sort of subframe connector thing stock that weighs more and the added weight of the top but its not outragous
-Costly, they are priced waaaay higher then regular hardtops

Funny you should mention that. My exGF's dad has an 87 TA with t tops. He told me once that he was driving down the road once and forgot to lock it and one came off at highway speeds(or more..you never know with this car).
Anyway, the top sailed through the air and landed in, if I remember correctly, the grassy lane divider. He went back to get it and it wasn't even scrathed.
Also, when I wrecked my 88 camaro(as always I should point out, NOT my fault..lol) the frame bent (a MAJOR understatement, the front was totally destroyed) and the windshield was shattered and its angle changed and all that, but the t-tops just kinda twisted and i think one halfway popped out..yet again, still intact.
I dunno what they make those out of but it is some hard stuff.2005 Ford Focus ZX3 SE D20 M5 - Modified ;) http://www.knightenmotorsports.com
[ U R L = h t t p : / / w w w . g e o c i t i e s . c o m / h e a r t l a n d _ h e a t _ v 6 ] Heartland Heat V6 [ / U R L ]

hummmm. water damage or broken/lost t-top. steals your t-top or steals all your ****. rollover and loose my head or keep it. looks goofy from midsection up or look bad ***. hmmmmmm......tuff decision. i'd pick a hard top/ t-top over soft top.

But now I get the joy of a wet knee in the rain. Ah well, the rain hasn't hurt the seats any.
