I finally convinced my dad to let me drop the LT1 in my car . I'm 100% sure I want to do this and not sell my car so please don't offer that opinion. Now, although he agreed, he wants me to get a brand new LT1 as opposed to a used one. I think what I'm looking for is called a crate motor, but I have no clue on where to start looking. If anyone has done this, I'd appreciate some help on what to do next. Thanks

Ya I think he might pay the difference between a used one and a new one, so I'm happy there.95 3.4 A4
Performance: SLP CAI, Flowmaster 80-Series Exhaust, Catco High-Flow Cat, ADS Performance Chip, 160* Thermostat, TB-Bypass
Appearance: 35th Ann. If you must get a new crate engine, get something cooler than an LT1.
I would get a ram jet 350 and stab a bigger cam into it. Those engines are docile enough for daily driving, very easy to install, and make TONS more power with a simple cam swap.
Whatever you get, don't buy it from GM direct, they charge way too much. Get one from scoggin dickey, Summit, or somewhere cheaper.1999 red camaro v6 M5: with a turbo
13.52@107.99
No, seriously: Who Farted?
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/600086

dumb imo, you going to pay MORE for just the engine than you can buy a 95 z28 for

there are reasons some people dont want to sell their car. have you seen his? it looks freakin awesome. some people are somewhat attached to their cars. more power to ya redcamaro for dropping that v8 in there, even if its not the best decision money wise

hell yeah red go for it. I want to do this in the future also to my bird. Its my first sports car and my toy and i want to keep it for a LONG time. I would go for the ram jet 350 also. Simply because it sounds bad *** . LOL. when people ask, just name drop the 350 ram jet and listen to the ricers ooh and ahhh...Pain heals, chicks dig scars, and glory is forever.

------------------------------
1997 Red Firebird with T Tops
Custom 3\" cold air intake
K and N filter
!maf
flowmaster 80 series catback
Accel 8.8 300+ spiral ferro wires
Bosch 2X platinum +4 \'s

i've been researching on the same topic and i decided i'm going to be dropping in the LS1 around Christmas , the ram jet looks and sounds awsome but the LS1 is the easiest to drop in, it has all the computer connections and all hose connections, its also rated at 350hp, the LS1 will also bolt right onto the 4l60-E transmission, but costs about 2x more then the ram jet  , i'm switching becasue i have 175,000+ on my 3.4, i need a little more power!Red 94 Firebird: KIA
Black 2000 WS6 T/A: Parts for Sale

What kind of fitment problems will I run into in putting an LS1 into a 93-97 body? And also, some little thing I thought about, how can I put a 98-02 V8 gauge cluster into my car and making it fit? I think it would be badass to drop in a LS1 , but I'm not sure if its going to be too much of a hassle.95 3.4 A4
Performance: SLP CAI, Flowmaster 80-Series Exhaust, Catco High-Flow Cat, ADS Performance Chip, 160* Thermostat, TB-Bypass
Appearance: 35th Ann. For what an LS1 costs I would buy an Lt4 vette motor. More power than an LS1 and way more power than the LT1, itmakes almost 70 more hp than the LT! and 10-15 more than the LS1 and costs less than either. sorry to say, the LT4 is not a more cost effective swap.
with a lt1/ls1 you can buy a donor car.
for a LT4 swap, you need either a donor car, or new parts.
that setup will cost a lot more, than just buying one car, and stripping/swapping into your car.
.. if you want a BAD @$$ LT1 setup, a friend is selling his wrecked 96 SS, linked here:

if you bought a crate motor it will definately cost you more. unless you are doing all the work yourself.
it would be bad azz to throw in a LS1 in your car, but you better know what you are doing or make sure the mechanic knows what he is doing. an LT1 would be much easier.
another thing to think about is do you have drums in the back?
anything is possible - i just saw a 93 cobra with a carburated engine in it.6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

Check out my post over in the advanced forum. I'm in the process of researching a swap to a 327 Vortec engine. It has the same lower half as an LS1 so it will bolt right up and they're much cheaper for the same amount of power output as an LT1. The benefit is that these engines are almost brand new. You can find a 2001 or 2002 engine in pristine condition at a junkyard for 1000 or less with less than 20k miles on it. With the SUV market expanding rapidly these engines have a growing aftermarket of heads, headers, cams and so forth. Plus all 305,350 and 327 SBC stuff will bolt on. I still have some hurdles to overcome with accessories and electrics, but i'm working on it. Plus a 327 Vortec camaro just sounds cool (the real reason i'm doing it...lol)1993 Camaro 3.4L A4 many mods comin for 2004

\"The last thing I wanted was to get in a fight in Jackson, Mississippi on a Saturday night\"
