...getting brake line fittings off? Every fitting I try to remove I end up almost stripping the nut and cant get the fitting loose. What do you guys do to get PITA fittings off?? I'm installing braided stainless steel lines and SLP line lock kit.

VICE GRIPS?!?!?! NOOOOOOOO

There is a set of vice grips out there that is made so that when is clamps down, it is the same size as the fitting you are trying to get loose. You must have had the wrong size then. the chance that a line wrech striped it is prety nill. One thing to remember is that pulling on it will not break it lose. you need to shock it with a sudden jolt. Just remember that for next time1996 Silver camaro Z28. In the '04 Craftman holiday catalogue on pg. 57 ,they have a totaly new set of "line" wrenches.They clamp completely around the nut. They're made by Imperial tools.The best innovation I've seen yet for line removal,& at 70 $ for a 7 piece sae set,it seems like a good buy.But the same price for a 10-14mm 5 set seems pricy for only 5 metric wrenches.geocorComment

the line wrench i got was about 2 bucks at the shop next door. cheap and easy. a line wrench looks just like a normal wrench but the tips come in a bit at the end to grip the nuts/bolts better.Comment
