I got a 1997 3.8 V6 and I got the P1135 Code, DTC P1135 HO2S Lean Mean Bank 1 Sensor 1
PLEASE tell me that this just means I have a bad O2 sensor... Then tell me you're telling the truth ;) .
I can't afford a full tuneup as I seriously need to go to Florida tomorrow morning. Where are the 02 sensors located on these cars and how do I get to them?
Let me verify that code. I have never heard of the definition quite like that on GM. P1XXX means that it's manufacture spesific so a generic description could be wrong..
Yeah I am getting nothing on that code for GM, closest that I have is a P1134. I will look up the codes at work based on a 97 camaro and let you know what it means when I get home tonight.
It's saying the sensor is too "constant". It should vary between rich and lean, but yours isn't doing it enough. With this DTC set, your car will be running in Open Loop mode, so you should get it taken care of pretty quick.
You could have an exhaust leak, or there could be something wrong with the sensor. Possibly some bad wiring, or the sensor may just need to be replaced.

B2S1 is on the passenger's side manifold.
Should I look into just replacing the sensor first? It's under the car on the passenger side manifold right? Will bad wiring be obvious or how far would I have to look? some detail would be appreciated...
Thanks though...
Edit: Oh yea.. by the chance I do have an exhaust leak, what am I looking at to first off, find out if I do or don't, second off... fixxing it...
Replacing the sensor would be the easiest thing, and I would assume that would likely be the problem. There are some voltages you can check from the PCM to tell you where the problem is, but that gets a little more complicated.
Personally I would just replace the sensor, but HBHRacing will know more about this when he gets back.
Edit for your edit: Finding a leak is pretty much just by ear. Gotta run the car and get down there to try to hear where it's coming from. The leak may or may not have messed up the sensor.
I looked deeper into it. There is No GM code like that. I tripple checked at work to be sure. so I was going to ask you to get the right code but since you now have it we can move on.
They are right. The sensor needs to switch between bias voltage (450 Mv) X amount of times within X seconds.. When it doesn't you set that code. Like said it's for the pass side manifold sensor. Unless you have done any work on that side or have headers etc etc etc then it's a 99% chance that it's the sensor it self. If you have headers or have done work on that side lemme know cause there are other things that should be looked into at that case...

Okay, weird thing happened. I ran some midgrade octane on my next two fillups and when I was in a rush to pick my aunt up, I was driving at like 75 - 85 MPH down the freeway thinking I was doing hell on my car, felt a sudden boost in power and my SES light went off. Well it ran fine and I filled it up with regular octane again and changed my airfilter which was absolutely filfthy. I came to college (about 50 miles of reg gas) and it came back on AS SOON as I parked. Why would this have happened? Could it have been the gas? Also when this sensor is out would it cause the car to run kind of hessitant? It's not so bad as a misfire but it's alittle noticable when you're trying to accellerate that it takes a moment before the power kicks in.
Edit: Whoa!! O2's for my car cost $80.00!!! Any out there cheaper than that?!?! Also is this sensor upstream or downstream? Does it have to be a specific O2 sensor (up/downstream)? Someone told me it would have to be but I'm not sure. My car's stock. If it's upstream it's before the cat right? and by the code it's on the passenger side right? can I get to it with a Jack?

Yes, they are expensive. Like was posted above, that sensor is in the passenger side exhaust manifold. ;)
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
