• fuel injector cleaner ?

Does anyone have good luck using fuel injector cleaner? I tried it once on my old 88 fbird 2.8L that had around 150,000KMs and the engine never started up the same again -almost like it was flooding. A guy i work with waits till he has a 1/4 tank left and then dumps a bottle in, is this a good idea?

I use fuel injector cleaner regularly every oil change on a full tank of fuel. I have had no problems running it, and it really does keep the fuel injectors cleaner than normal. Some fuel injector cleaners are stronger than others, such as BG's 44K. Wheras STP's injector cleaner is a lot less powerful.

I find it is beneficial to run the cheaper but still quality kind to keep the fuel injectors in good working order. If the buildup gets bad enough (rare) the BG 44K will definetly clean the hell out of them .

Nitrous works wonders but if you don't have it then techron is a very reputable fuel injector cleaner.

When in doubt throw a little NOZ and Charcoal lighter fluid in the tank....

              Seriously, what is BG 44?

if you get chevron gas w/ the techron stuff, you don't have to clean the injectors very often since techron is a injector cleaner in itself. otherwise, use it every 3 months or 3000 miles(every oil change)

Using a good fuel injector cleaner and upper cylinder lubricant is probably a good idea. I use it about every third of fourth fill-up.

As I recall, Chevron developed and patented Techron and licenses it to several big name companies for use as an additive in their fuels. No doubt Techron works, but for a problem it takes more Techron than what is found in pump gas.

BG 44K is also good as are almost all BG products.

The product that I have used recently with excellent results is Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant and Injector Cleaner. Had the problem of rough idle and this product cleared it up in short order.

Changing the fuel filter regularly can also be helpful.
