Ok...About a month ago I flushed and refilled my coolant with Dexcool. Ever since then whenever I stopn for any longer that a minute or so the gauge raises from the normal 180-190 range and goes up eventually to about 210. This even happens at night when the outside temp. is under 70 degrees. It usually never goes above 210 and it does something else weird. I sometimes drops to between 185 and 210 with me not doing anything ( i.e. turning on the air condition etc..) but sitting there. And then it goes back up to 210. Do I have a sticky thermostat. My dad thinks this may be a the problem. When I get the car going again it cools back down to 185 or so. Thanks in advance.

Nope, thats normal due to the tiny size of the
stock radiator and how the fans are programmed.
Are you running an aftermarket thermo?
Hpwever if its moving around randomly, it could be a bad ECT. $25 to replace, simple screw in screw out situation.
The coolant gauge is iffy on these cars, dont trust it unless you know its finickyness

Hey naw its the stock thermo in there. Ya about the fans is there a way to program them to come on earlier like say 200 or so? Why the heck did they program them to come on so late anyway? I mean most cars fans even come on after you turn off the car to cool it down. So I'll have to look into getting a new ECT if it is that cheap. And ya it seems like a lot more than the coolant gauge is iffy on these cars sheesh!! lmao but atleast I'm looking good going down the road ; )
