1997 3.8L Camaro, 5 speed, 376,000km

Once the car is driven for about 15-30 minutes it will start to Hesitate/Stumble at 2500rpm all the way to whenever I shift.

Fuel filter and plugs were replaced 180,000km ago. (Previous owner, reciepts)
Wires were replaced 210,000km ago. (previous owner, reciepts)
Fuel Pump was replaced 4 months ago.

It the check engine light doesnt come on so it isnt missfiring.

Any Ideas? thanks.

after it shifts do the rpms drop and the engine kind of bogs?

No it doesnt.

Lets say I'm in first, take it up to 3,000rpm.
Then I puish in the clutch and shift into second, let go of the clutch.
Give it half throttle. When it reaches 2500~ rpm it will start to bog /surge. The rpms do not dro por anything (They just stop moving up as fast).
The car is HELLA slow when it does this.

Check to make sure your plugs are still on tight. I've had a few come loose on me before.

180,000km = 111,852 miles
210,000km = 130,494 miles

I think its about time for fuel filter, plugs & wires, etc.. a full tune up.

Crap, I didn't even bother to convert it to miles, I'm kinda lazy. Yea, you deffinately need new plugs and wires if it's been that long ago!

Your car has 233,120 miles on it! I think you win the award of having the most miles on a 3800!

:D :D
lol.

What would all be inovled in a full tune-up?
I just replaced the oil/filter 2 weeks ago with Valvoline Max Life 10w-30.

I don't want any performance stuff that is going to cost me a lot more then non-performance. (Just cause of the mileage)

Plugs
Wires
Fuel filter
What else?

thanks

Plugs, wires, fuel filter, might want to change or at least check the PCV valve, its easy and inexpensive. Flush the coolant system, run some seafoam also (if you don't know what that is, do a search, its been discussed plenty).

I'd like to see a 3800 go to 300,000 miles

It's been done, gentlemen. I have a Series I 3800 with 319k miles on it, and it still runs like a jackrabbit, and doesn't burn oil. It can run sub-9 second 0-60 now, and stock for the 1988 Delta 88 was about 9.2. Therefore, it literally runs better than when it was new. It has never had the engine opened, or the transmission. It has a nice rumbling idle thanks to the intake screen removal, punched cat and Dynomax muffler, but the exhaust is still 2 1/4 in. The intake is relatively stock for now, but I've added a K&N filter and 10k resistor. Other than that, the only mods are rear spring spacers, a manual fan switch, a 180 thermo, and a lot of junk removed from the trunk, including the spare tire. What oil do I use? Pennzoil 5w30. This last oil change I used the synthetic blend. It's getting close again though. I think I'll go back to full dino oil.

With a little more tuning and some more mods, I see 8 second 0-60 in the future. That would satisfy me for a while. That isn't a bad goal for a car that weighs as much as it does. Heck, I weigh 235 too. I'm suprised it runs as fast as it does. A new cam and valvetrain would do wonders, probably, as I'm sure the old cam lobes are worn some. It was only originally rated at 165 hp, and 215ft/lbs of torque. Yet, that torque starts at a low RPM, and carries well through the range. What do you guys project in terms of 1/4 mile, and 1/8 mile? I want to take it to a track this fall, or as soon as possible. I'll post the timeslip here.
