Could a belt slip be a reason why my alternator isn't charging my battery? I just fixed the whining, but I didn't know if that would help. I won't get to drive it until tomarrow.

It would have to be slipping pretty bad to stop charging.

Anything that degrades the performance of the alternator can cause an inadequate charge.
