  • Lagging when accelerating

I noticed lately that when I punch it from a stop or even when driving slowly, the engine rpms will shoot up like they should, but there is a 1-3 second delay before any power gets to the ground. When it finally kicks in, the car usually jumps and takes off normally. The gear progression seems fine after the car finally gets moving. This doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, its extremely noticable.

Looking for more potential things to look at than the following:

    Transmission solenoids
    Tranny mount

I know my lsd and pinion are fine as the car feels normal after it gets past 1st and 2nd and I check them out all the time when I change my diff fluid (done last about a month ago). My driveshaft isn't twisted or showing any signs of wear. I know I need to change my oil (got it planned for tomorrow). Plugs, wires and coils seem fine (wires and plugs are new as of last year - less than 10k on them).

Any other ideas would be helpful so that I only have to do this once.

Thats the other thing I forgot to mention. Replacing my fuel filter this weekend as well.

The fuel pump seems ok, I can still hear it repressurizing the lines on start, and if it was going, I would also expect there to be a loss of power in the higher rpms when it has to do more work. Really, I'm not having any kind of a power loss, its just a power lag. The engine runs like its normal, it's just taking forever for the power to get to the ground - and when it does the car jumps and goes. If the fuel pump was going, I wouldn't expect the cars rpms to run normally as there wouldn't be enough fuel/air mix to feed the cylinders to support the rpms.

My pump would be weird, would give power to low rpms, then it would bog highs then would switch to bog lows and power to highs... I dunno.. It was pumping out 18 psi (48 needed) so go have someone check it out so atleast you can get it off the list.

I had a similar problem, and I replaced the fuel filter and that solved everything.

that doesnt sound like the problem would be from the fuel pump... i think more on trans prob.

One other thing I really started noticing (still haven't had a chance to look at it yet - thank you rain) is that when the car shifts, the entire car makes a right heave then a heave back to the left.

I'm thinking tranny mount at this time.

Anyone know how to test if the tranny mount is bad?
