So i was changing my belt and cleaning the pullies because i have been hearing a little squeeking. I also changed the pcv valve because, well, i never have before. I removed the two bolts, took off the cover, used needle nose to pull it out with the spring, pulled spring off and put back in with new valve, then tightened down bolts and cover.
When i started it back up i noticed louder belt noise and a ticking sound coming from the area of the right valve cover (when facing engine) as well as more of a rough idle and more loping to the exhaust tone.
I used my haynes manual and it said to replace the o ring from the old one, but there was not one there. I guess in earlier models of the 3.8 there was, but that is my question. Does the 2000 model have an o ring?
I have searched this site and another one and noone said whether the 2k definately had one or not. Some said no, some said yes. I am worried that maybe it stayed inside the intake when i removed it.
The auto store guy said all it gave him was a part # on his computer, but didnt say whether it needed an o ring.
The acceleration and driving was better, just louder.
(also while turning the pullies i noticed the alternator pully was the only one that wasn't quiet, is it supposed to be?)
I know these are problably newbie questions, but i didnt find it answered completely.
Thanks
Brad
