  • Please help... rough idle.

I have been faced with a rough idle since this last winter. Now, i am thinking it has something to do with the EGR valve. I mean, i do not know what else it could be. My Camaro is perfectly maintained and babied... except for my run-ins with local import pretenders and chumpstang owners... but these occasions are rare. I only use these situations as excuses to open her up and clean out the carbon ;) ...you know what i mean?
The rough idle i talk about is minor. I can barely see the tachometer needle move at idle, but i can definitely feel a slight vibration through the car.
What do you think is the problem? Anyone with a similar experience... if so, what fixed the problem?

I would like to thank you for any help or insight you provide!

i have the exact same problem as you. i have checked and did all maintance and tune ups possible. i believe my last resort would lie in compression problems. i think the restore oil stuff might help you out. try it. i did, and noticed a very good improvement.

You noticed a very good improvement, but did it totally clear up that rough idle?

Who else thinks my problem is with compression?

If i do have compression problems, what else can be done to fix it... not just cover it up, but actually fix the problem?

Also remember we have a pretty big V6 with an uneven firing order. These are not known as the smoothest engines, compared to I4's etc.

I undersatnd what you are trying to say... but prior to this past winter, this rough idle did not exsist.

I see. Maybe your alternator is going out or a coil. Maybe your MAF got dirty, broken tranny mount, burnt plug or wire, clogging exhaust, bad iat sensor. Did you check your fuses?
