Did a search, led me nowhere. I was wondering if the procedure is advised. I recall pop starting my 83 Trans Am and it fired up beautifully in 2nd gear but this is off a '96 RS. Would I be doing some internal transmission damage ( synchros ) at all? Not sure if the users manual even recommends it. I just want to know so that if I ever run into that problem whether I killed the battery by accident or whatever, I can pop start my M5 with confidence.

its easy to pop start a manual. all you have to do is get the car to a nice roll, push in the clutch shift into first gear and just pop the clutch into gear, as quickly as you pop it in you want to pop it out of so that you dont kill the car again. now if your battery is completely dead then it may take a couple of tries to get the alternator turned enough to charge the battery.
