  • homemade battery tie down...

Not sure if it works on other cars...

but it works on my '00 and should work with 98-00 camaros. Main problem is it shares a mount with the headlight, not sure if firebirds and 93-97 camaros have a similar thing but you could just drill and bolt one in.

    Parts/tools
-Strip of metal form Home Depot/lowes I think mine was $3-4 (Located in hardware usually right near the row with nuts and bolts)
    -13mm socket(I believe its 13mm may be 10mm)
    -1/2 socket
    -long socket extension

-Use half in socket with extension to get the bolt for the factory battery hold down completely out.

-Use the 13mm socket to remove the bolt for part of the headlight mount.

-Put the bolt through one of the holes in the metal, and slide the battery all the way against the frame support behind the headlight. Bend the end with the bolt through it slightly then push the bolt down in the orignal hole. Tighten down the bolt, make sure the metal piece is putting pressure on the battery.

-then bend the strap over the edge of the battery towards the front of the car. Pull really hard on it to then push the factory bolt back through the tightest hole when you pull it and tighten the strap and headlight mount down.

    Then cut/bend excess metal off.

If you wanna be fancier, you cna get a solid piece of aluminum and drill custom holes, would be shinier, and not have the holes.

Mine used to be a little tighter but my battery finally crapped out and I replaced it and my new battery is smaller, so I have to rebend the metal.
