  • Squal when first started..

When I first start my car its as though my belt just squeaks and squals so to speak.. then when it warms up boom its gone. no more ever again? why it never done this, Ive not found no one with this problem. everyone says new belt new pullies the belt is only like 5 months old and the belt tensionr pullie is like 2 months old if that. I can't get it to stop? would reving the engine pull the belt and lag it out? and why does everyone else rev their engines and its not happended to them? if that is the problem.

i dont know if i can help u but, it sounds like ur talking about ... almost like metal grinding when you start up..??? it may not be your belts. check it with the hood open and have someone start ur car when you know it will do it. i have never heard this problem on a f-bod. good luck.

From my post in the other belt thread:

Take the belt off and wipe off all the pulleys with an acetone-soaked rag or spray with throttle cleaner (but not carb cleaner, since some leave a lubricating film). Then do the same for the belt unless you're putting a brand new one on. While the belt is off, make sure all the pulleys spin freely.
