Low oil pressure

For the last few weeks I've noticed my oil pressure being a bit lower than normal. For the two years I've had the car, the idle oil pressure fluctuates from about 55psi to 60psi. Under throttle it sits at 60 to ~63psi depending on conditions. Recently, at idle oil pressure is more like 45 to 50psi, and under throttle it holds near 50psi. I checked the oil last week and it was about a 1/2qt low. I went ahead and added a full qt. Oil is Mobil 1 10w-30. Last oil/filter change was at 78127, current mileage is 80526. Other than the low oil pressure the car isn't having any problems. Any ideas?

hmm same thign is happening to me. The same milage too, well i am 200 miles over you. The only thing that I think is causing my low oil pressure is my oil leak, i think I need new sealant on hte oil pan or something. I change my oil every 2,500 miles because of the leak just to be ont he safe side. Anyone know?

i am at 40000 miles and i noticed the same thing. this seems to be common for our cars. i was told it was normal by other fbuds. i took thier word for it.

you might try to go pick up some lucas oil treatment. The stuff works wonders! Add it to your next oil change and ill bet your oil pressure goes right back where it belongs. I had the same problem and i added some last night... worked great

Mine did the same...I had it flushed and the pressure went right back up there. I have quite a few more miles than you do though. I just turned over 94k miles.

make sure the oil pan nut is tight..... my pressure was off one time and that was why

yup, mine just started to hang around the 45-50psi mark and I'm sitting at 54K miles. I have also heard its normal.

When I start it up in the morning, the oil pressure is fine. It usually goes down after I do some freeway driving at idle. Then when I accelerate, it goes back up. I figure its normal but I might try that oil flush stuff.

I don't know though, I'm sort of 50/50 on it.
Everytime I hear a good thing about oil additives, I read something bad. Then I'll read something good about it then hear not to do it.

I won't settle for "it's normal." There's no reason that oil pressure would drop over 15%. I plan on going ahead and changing the oil today or tomorrow. I suspect that will solve the problem. There are no noticeable oil leaks and no smoke from the exhaust or anything like that. I figure it's something with the oil itself. I think I managed to get a little bit of water in the oil when I took my TB off a couple weeks ago to remount my fogger nozzle. If that's the case it wasn't enough to make a noticeable difference in the color of the oil, but may have made some kind of difference in the consistency of it. I'll update after I change the oil.
