  • question with pic

I am trying to fix some noices under my hood. Just wondering if the bolt in the pic is supposed to be tighter or not, all the others are flush.

And could this be letting something vibrate making noise?

still wondering if this bolt should be tightened more. I tried to tighten it and it wouldn't budge, but if it should be tight then i'll keep trying.

    Thanks for any help.

any bolt in or around your motor should be torq'd and tight.....any bolt.
-unscrew it all the way out then re-thread it/then try to rescrew the bolt back in. don't force it if you feel resistance.

it looks like the wrong bolt to me.

my (and others near them) have an almost aluminum color tone to the hex head. other parts of the engine have that more standard type of dark iron hex head as seen in your pic. an example of this would be the bolts that hold the lift bracket...whereas the water pump area bolts have an aluminum look to them.

thanks for the answers. All of the the bolts that hold that look the same and i have never had any work done (except ac compressor and cat), so it's still how it came from the factory because i bought it new. I will unscrew it and clean it up, trace the threads if i have to and see if i can get it in.

I havent had any real problems with the car since i bought it at the start of 2000, but everything seems to be needing replaced now. My next mods will just be general maintenance it looks like.

Again thanks alot for the help, much appreciated.
