  • HELP!!..fuel rail "bolts"

when i put my NOSzles on the injectors the fuel rail is going to lay about 3/4" higher..so we were just going to get the fuel rail bolts just 3/4" longer with 3/4" spacers..however..im looking at my engine and it turns out that they are not bolts that hold down the fuel rail..its actually threaded studs that come UP off the block somewhere that the fuel rail slides on to..then nuts just go on to hold it down tight..so its not looking like theres any way to make the 3/4" longer..if thats so..direct port may not be possible because i could take the rail off to put the NOSzles on..but i could not put the fuel rail back on..any help would be appreciated..i REALLY need it..

Those studs come out, so I don't see any reason why you couldn't just get a bolt of the right thread/length.

they do????..how do you get them out if the come up from underneath..also..do you know any of the dimensions on these studs??..i called a dealer and they didnt even know

also..if those come out..then could i just get bolts that are ANY thread as long as i have matching nuts and they are 3/4" longer??..or do they actually thread through something other than just the nuts??

The stud is just screwed into the top of the lower intake manifold. You should be able to unscrew them to take them out. They may or may not come out easily, but you can work them out.

Once you get it out, find a bolt with the same thread, then you should be able to bolt the fuel rail on.

Edit: Here's a pic of the studs (left it big so you could see them well): http://www.leadingedgesim.com/mkapro...lRailStuds.JPG

I'm not saying for sure you can use a bolt there, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't.

Take it down to Lowes or Home Depot and find a nut that fits it. ;)

to get the studs out put 2 nuts on the stud.... THEN only turn on the bottom stud and you can back them out

Those studs do not hold anything else.

On my car, the studs extend about an inch above the nut when it is tightened down. If yours is like that, you should be able to use the same studs. Just put the spacers in. If not, use the bolts.

If you had sent the kit to Florida for me to test like I told you too, you would not be worrying about these things.

haha..you just wanted a little direct port action ;) ..anyways..thanks a lot for confirming that..my studs only came up about a 1/2" above the nuts..so im gonna have to go with the longer bolts..i actually got a hold of a company who is going to be sending me custom spacers FREE!
