  • Is it safe for me to switch to Synthetic oil?

I have about 17,000 miles on my 01 camaro, I have been using what ever the dealership puts in there for oil so far, and I want to start putting Mobile 1 in it. Is it safe to do it right now? some people have told me to wait till you reach 20k, what do you guys think?

cool thanks for the help , this week i will be pouring in some mobile 1 syn. Some people say that you can actually get performance increases with sny. because of less friction or something. is this true?

Oh yea, and should i still use 10w30 with the synthetic? or should i go with something else?

Go with 10w-30 and you can actually see from like 3-7 HP increase because synthetic is much better than conventional oils. The only thing that people have said about switching is that on older(higher milage) engines, that an oil leak or two could pop up...I never had any problems.
