Xw-Y oil is a multi-viscosity oil. The first number I believe is how it flows in the cold compared to a typical oil, and the second is how it flows hot compared to a typical oil. CHeck me on this...I just might have to do that.

Simplified, 15W-50 means that the oil has a certain thickness at low temperatures. 50 means it has a certain thickness at 100 degrees C. The scales are not the same, you can't say 15W weight oil and 15 weight oil are the same thickness. You can only compare aW-b to cW-d. (BTW, the scales for transmission oil are different also).

will give you an idea of how complicated these numbers really are.
Bearings are designed to work best with a certain thickness of oil. You're best off if you keep close to the manufacturer's recommendation.2000 Firebird convert, chameleon/tan, M5, Y87, TCS, BMR tower brace and panhard, KBDD sfcs, 245/50-16 GSCs

Stick to 10w-30
The "Performance Driving Formula" means nothing.
Its for trucks & diesels w/ large liter engines.
Good oil, terrible advertising system. I can just imagine some poor guy w/ a crx putting in high performance oil.2001 75th Anniversary V6 Pewter Firebird w/ Chrome Wheels, T-Tops, & Y87
Mods: Free Ram Air, !Silencer, Holley Filter, Full 3\" Hooker Catback, 3\" Cat
Best time: 15.095 at 90.00 MPH with a 2.127 60\'
