I bought my car this summer for 1K even. It has high miles, body damage, and it beat up inside. Nothing in the looks deparment is too bad, you wouldn't notice it if I was driving down the road and I passed you or you passed me. Anyway, it had a blown head gasket, so I went out and bought the head gasket kit, new head bolts, and tools to work on it (the tools were cheapo Advanced Auto Parts kits). My dad bought me some Craftsmen tools for Christmas, and they are really nice, so that's cool. Anyway, we tore into the engine hard there for a while, and we realized that we couldn't do this without risking messing up the engine, so we just quit working on it. Now I have a job, and enough money to pay to have it fixed. So, today it cost me 100 to have it taken to the garage I'm getting it fixed at, and the mechanic there is one of my mom's boyfriend's friends. He told me that after the labor, and having the heads milled back to the correct condition it would cost me about 400 plus tax. That's a lot less than the local dealership quoted me for, but is that too much to replace the head gaskets for both sides and have it milled?

Assuming the guy knows what he's doing, that's a pretty good price for all the work.Matt

Good, my mom's boyfriend told me to go to this guy, so I think he got me a discount. It's already there, and they should have it fixed by next weekend. Mike h, who did you call for that price quote? The highest I got was about 800 for labor only at the local dealer.94 Camaro
Purple Pearl Metallic
V6 Auto
