• Manual Fan Control Switch

    Hey everyone,

I just installed a manual fan control switch on my 2001. I followed the instructions exactly but i can't get the damn thing to work. I'm thinking that it has to be an electrical issue because one of the LCD lights that indicates the low fan setting only works intermitantly. I checked all the fuses and they are all working fine. Could it be that the switch isn't getting enough amps because i have the power spliced in at the back of the radio? Any other suggestions to get this thing to work?

Why would you take power from the radio?

You should tap power straight from the fusebox for a more reliable source.

Ehh.. It was in the directions. I figured just go along with whatever they say to do but that didn't work so well. So do u think thats what the problem could be? Or are there any other common problems getting the switch to work?

        Why is this in drivetrain?

the power source has nothing to do with it...

the tapping inot the power source is only used to light up the leds, not actually turn the fans on.

all your doing to the fans is grounding the circuit to make it complete.

        what directions did you use?

I used whatever directions where supplied by the company i bought it from. Basically we just hooked up the LED's and ran the wires through the firewall and connected to the wires that operate the fans. We used the cigarette lighter as the ground. Sorry not to good with the electrical stuff.

PS Posted this message in the wrong message board, but any help is appreciated.

Yup, its an e-bay special. hehe. I think it might just be a bunk unit, but I'm hoping I just messed up on the install.

I'll sell you one with no LEDs for $15 shipped. And I'll test it beforehand

why the hell would someone have them tap into the radio. That makes no sence. I sell switchs as well and as soon as I finish updating my website yuu can use the install guide that I have for my switchs to install yours http://www.hbhracing.com but without seeing the switch design I'm not sure what the problem is. It's possible that it's not set up for OBDII with the correct resistors

Its for the LEDS, they are only pulling current to run the LEDs. The LEDs are grounded the same way you ground the fans. But they need a power source.
