  • Scare on the way to class...

This morning when I was driving to class... I was pulling up to a stoplight and as usual I pop it in neutral and coast to the light. There's a slight curve in the road before the light and when I go to turn the wheel I notice the wheel is very heavy (aka no power steering). So I kinda freak out and am like wtf is going on. Then when the light turns green I go on the gas and nothing happens. I had my music kinda loud so I didn't notice the lack of loudmouth until I stepped on the gas. I look down and the check gauges light is on so I check the gauges and put on my hazard lights. I notice everything is fine except oil pressure is at ZERO!

This freaked me out and I was like wtf an I gonna do?!!? Then I think there's no loudmouth... but I didn't stall (noticeably at least). So I turn the key to off, press the clutch and turn it back to on. The car starts, oil pressure goes back up but isn't quite at the normal spot. Car drove normal to class except the oil gauge wiggled the whole way. I popped the hood once I parked and didn't notice anything wrong. I was in a hurry and already running late for class so I didn't get to look at it too much. The thing that spooks me is that even when my car is off the oil pressure gauge stays up and it was at zero before. When I turned off the car at school it stayed up so I have no idea wtf is happening.

If the car dies, the oil pressure will show 0, since that's what it is. ;)

Yeah I checked it and it just a little low (1/2 quart or so). It may have just stalled like you said but it definatly freaked me out. I guess we'll see how it does on the way home.
