Ok I was driving to school the other day and noticed that when I was accelerate pretty hard there was a bumping noise. I took it to my transmission guy because I thought it was the rear end but he knew right away that it was the engine misfiring. There are never any flashing codes or anything and it misfires only under heavy load. I have a 2001 with 48k miles on it and I just put in new ngk tr55 plugs about 2 months ago. I am doin wires next but do you guys think it could be them or something else. I really have no idea as to what causes misfires so if anybody can help me I'd greatly apreciate it.

im having the same problem now. im gettting my ignition wires changed as we speak so if it solves that problem, you'll be the first to know. i got a 99 A4. if youre getting new plugs, you might want to invest in some boot protectors or something to shield the heat away from your plug boots.99 Camaro RS - 3.8L V6

Modifications
Exhaust: Magnaflow OBD-II High-flow Catalytic converter / Magnaflow catback exhaust
Intake: Shaved Airlid / 3\" PVC tub
Suspension: V8 springs / DeCarbon shocks / 32mm 1LE swaybar / 19mm rear swaybar

Yea please let me know how things turn out. I have new plugs and I just ordered taylor spiro wires because I was going to upgrade them anyway so I might as well do them now and see if it's the problem. Thanx for the reply and let me know how things turn outGarrett

2001 WS9 W68 Blackbird A4
Custom Turbo...Chrome ZO6...WS9 Hood...
Custom Leather Interior...
much much more...see website

http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/637795/

just got back from a 100 mile drive and my car runs great. i dont know which cylinder was misfiring since it didnt throw any codes on me but changing the ignition wires solved the problem i was having. also, my engine has a lot better low end acceleration (from 1000-2500). i hope it's the ignition wires for you. if youre changing the wires, just remember to get some protection for your boots. better spending 20 bucks on protectors rather than purchasing another set of wires.99 Camaro RS - 3.8L V6

Modifications
Exhaust: Magnaflow OBD-II High-flow Catalytic converter / Magnaflow catback exhaust
Intake: Shaved Airlid / 3\" PVC tub
Suspension: V8 springs / DeCarbon shocks / 32mm 1LE swaybar / 19mm rear swaybar

I'm retarded lol...I decided to check all the plug boots to make sure they were all on and low and behold one of the boots ws basically off of the plug. It was on but you could just touch it and it would come out all the way. All I did was put it back on and everything is perfect again. Oh well I got my wires coming this week anyway but I'm happpy that it wasnt them.Garrett

2001 WS9 W68 Blackbird A4
Custom Turbo...Chrome ZO6...WS9 Hood...
Custom Leather Interior...
much much more...see website

http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/637795/
