  • hey 93-95 maybe even later, read this

k window stopped coming up today, it turns out it was too far forward and it was hitting the triangle at the front of the door
I take the panel apart and find that in the back end a connection to the window is flapping in the breeze. I look where its supposed to go and the front to back motion rail has a small crack in it coming from the hole where this connection was supposed to go, the metal broke!!! Im trying to figure out how it goes back together and how it will be fixed... I'll keep you updated!

ok, basically what my dad and I decided to do, then found out from TealV6 that he did this as well: tap a thread into it, screw it down w/ a washer to reinforce the crack use locktite so it doesnt work its way loose, and put it all back together =) just wanted you guys to know, b/c it seems to be a problem for more than just me!
    oh my edit is:
the symptom this problem is occuring is a rattle when the window is more than half down... if you hear this then you have the problem and its only a matter of time before it fails on you... watch out! heh

Hey, I had a similar problem a few months ago. The rear support slider snapped off the lower window channel. So there was nothing to prevent the window from moving forward. I bought a new lower window channel rail and installed it. I had to drill out the old rivets through the glass, pull the glass, remove old channel, and reinstall everything. Wasn't to bad. I believe the channel was about $50 from the dealer.

Here is a picture of what the piece looked like:
      Broken Channel

Is that what you broke, or did you snap the guide that is bolted to the door?

cb1101: yeah thats what it probably is...
My dad said he thinks its from the door being controlled by the window (like grabbing the window to open and close the door)

          backfire: yup thats it!

I'm glad y'all put something up about this, because i just had this happen 2 weeks ago and i've been putting it off because i haven't had the time to devote to see what is involved in repairing it. now that i know it's a 50 dollar part from the dealer. i might just suck it up and do it this weekend. plus i'm tired of hearing my window hit the front of the door when it's down and i brake hard  Thanks for the post

the 50 dollar part is a ***** to install... better to just take the swivel part out and drill a hole in it, tap it, stick the screw in w/ washers and reinstall... I'm writing a how to on it w/ pics sometime soon...

If you do just try this you may just need to put a new hole in the channel for the swivel to stay put. If you do this make sure you check the stops in the vertical channel guide as you may need to adjust them for proper window travel.
